VM Design was established in 2004 as a joint collaboration between designers and teachers of International Plant/Floral Design, Vincenzo Antonuccio and Marilena Calbini. Despite coming from different professional and educational backgrounds, this winning, creative partnership that has manifested between these two complementary designers, can be identified by their extraordinarily distinctive style, strong vision and passion for what they do.
The VM signature style can be characterised in the unique and evocative atmospheres it creates for some of the world’s most prestigious, luxury villas, residences and resorts, this having been created through the extensive research and study of the finest design details.
The mission for VM Design is to create complete and coordinated ambiences, with the ability to captivate, to touch, to excite and to amaze. A new concept of living, based not purely upon the definitive nature of individual items but on the proposal of a dream, an idea, a style in which the protagonists are real, multifaceted scenes, composed from a group of elements colour, material and size that provoke and give life to a more global and emotional interpretation of furniture, one which evokes the ultimate and refined expression of a dream and soul.
Altogether, the overall vision of a concept, ‘the total look’ is with a strong presentation and clear direction, these are fundamental elements for the orientation of the brand. On this basis, all the professional experience gained over the years by VM Design has lead them to be highly regarded for their artistic direction by some very prestigious companies. Where in addition to their ideas and creations for catalogues, website, company showrooms and exhibition stands for the principal international fairs, such as Salone Del Mobile in Milan, Maison & Objet in Paris, Crocus in Moscow, Index in Dubai, Ambiente in Frankfurt, Intergift in Madrid, High Point in US, they have created many ‘ad hoc’ installations in reputable locations such as Harrods in London, Dux in Cuba, Art Basel Show and MAM in Miami.
VM Design have planned and produced many of the world’s most prestigious interior design projects for private residences, villas and resorts.
Vincenzo and Marilena have come from an educational background deeply rooted in the study of nature, unlike the classic stereotypical furniture designer. They have chosen their love of nature and reinterpreted it as a muse of inspiration.
They design and create products and collections of such diverse flavour both unique and unusual. Amongst the latest companies where they have successful contributed their influence as designers are VG Newtrend; Aston Martin Interiors; Mercedes Benz Style; Brummel Cucine, Faoma and Visionaire Ipe Cavalli.
VM Design are responsible for more than 150 patents for products being traded in the furniture industry, through their extensive research and design.

Emotion, effect, uniqueness and a lasting impression are the keywords which form the basis for planning communication, a catalogue or an advertising campaign by VM Design. Ultimately with the right amount of light, colour, shadow and skill the graphic design is able to create the ambience and atmosphere desired to best suit the balance between the company’s goal’s with the target audience.
VM Design believe with thorough research and study they are able to create a clear and unique mood to convey the main characteristics of the brand and therefore chose the right channels in which to communicate them.
In addition they have formed strong relationships with some of the best National and Foreign Press offices which allows for constant updates, news and targeted requests to pursue for further research.
Teaching is not a job it is a passion. To be able to pass on your knowledge, is to respect the different personalities and aptitudes found in others, and that through this transmission they might be able to find their own artistic and creative expression. This is a fundamental principle of teaching at VM Design.
Everyone has the innate ability, a consciousness to be explored. Vincenzo and Marilena are international teachers of floral design at the Italian school ‘Laboratorio Idee’ and the Swiss school ‘Atelier 5’ as well as teaching at the prestigious International Course of Floral Design in 72 days.
Vincenzo and Marilena represent Italy at the World Cup of Land Art, an annual competition which travels from place to place, this new art form has been recognized since 1967 in the United States, and in a short time soon became popular worldwide. The aim of Land Art is to leave a footprint, a significant gesture in the landscape. VM Design brought Italy for the first time onto the international stage in this discipline, first in 2012 in Kaunas, Lithuania and then in 2013 in Grindelwald, Switzerland.
Vincenzo Antonuccio could be defined as the conductor of the couple with his "creative talent and technical competence.” Through gaining his experience specializing in architecture and interior design; the many activities involved in staging fit outs with international companies; as well as his involvement with the foundation of the vocational training school of “Laboratorio Idee" : These initiatives have not only allowed him to perfect his personal aesthetic and distinctive signature, but also a remarkable intuition to pre-empt new trends in the market and deepen his knowledge of materials and innovative technologies for use in the design and production process.
Marilena Calbini is a free spirit, always looking for anything that expresses emotion and feeling, she adds an element of both "genius and recklessness" to VM Design; with a strong artistic sensibility and creative in the highest sense of the word, she owns an innate instinct towards unexplored worlds and unusual, divergent thinking par excellence. Marilena has curated collections of objects and furnishings for prestigious brands, cultivating precisely her passion for colour and demonstrating a true ability to give life to interesting and fresh combinations whilst maintaining the correct balance of colour, light and shade, line and volume.
